I think if I had to pick a niche – this would be it! If I was going to go back to school it would be for nursing but only if I could guarantee Labor & Delivery! This is my favorite! When Jess asked me if I would be there to photograph the birth of their daughter, first my jaw hit the floor and then I scooped it back up with a huge grin and immediately said YES!!!
I was texting Matt to find out how things were going. He told me they broke her water (in my head…instant panic…WAIT…I’m not there yet!!!). For my own births – water breaking meant GO time! Luckily for me this little girl decided to hold off for a while.
After lots of walking & lots of Pitocin – things were still moving pretty slowly. Jess opted for the epidural and she and Matt tucked in for a nap. At this point I’m hopped up on lots of coffee. I figured that the epidural would slow things down (goes to show that every birth is different). It seemed like about 5 minutes later Jess was up again. I smacked Matt on the leg to wake up because it was time. In came the crew. I’m crying in the background because it is such an awesome experience and I’m so honored to be there. And out came this perfect little girl.
