This was such a special wedding! I used to work with Kenzie so I’ve known her for quite a while. I didn’t get the chance to meet Joe until their wedding day but I could tell he was a sweetheart immediately! Kenzie and her mom sent me some photo ideas and when she told me that she wanted to have the groomsmen throw her in the air – I was sold! I knew it was going to be a fun and amazing wedding day! The best part of the whole day for me was listening to the story of how they met from Joe’s point of view, read by his mom at the reception. In a nutshell, it goes a little something like this…
“I don’t think I could come up with a better awe and wonder example then the day I met Kenzie. As you know I am neither a man of god or a believer in fate. That said there are some things in life that leave us left to wonder whether the mechanisms of the universe align with the experiences we use to define ourselves, or cast a shadow over something we couldn’t possibly understand from our perspective. For me the moment I saw Kenzie made me consider these two ideals and the two very different paradigms they represent.”
Both Kenzie and Joe needed a 1-credit class for the semester and ended up taking Afro-Caribbean Ensemble. He got into the description of the class in his story but I’m not going to go there now…
“As I was part of the Quinto section, my turn to play my drum came towards the end of the group, though as my turn approached, I became more aware of my surroundings. Maybe it was because all eyes were on me or maybe it was because my morning coffee decided to kick in, but as I began playing my drum I looked up at the other members of the ensemble and found myself gazing into the most beautiful pair of blue eyes I had ever seen in my entire life.
Like I said before I don’t believe in fate but somehow I knew that Kenzie would be a part of my life. I didn’t know how or when but an indescribably subtle emotion told every logical part of my brain that her and I were somehow connected (the illogical parts needn’t any coaxing). It was one of the only moments in my life I can remember that past present and future appeared as one and time was an anachronism. Some people call this feeling love at first sight though truthfully I had no idea what it meant until some time later. All I knew then was that there was a beautiful young blue eyed woman with deep red hair smiling back at me; and that I had never enjoyed another smile more in my entire life.”
And THAT is one of the best stories I’ve ever heard!
